Jewelry Care
Jewelry Care
Jewelry is meant to be worn, loved, and lived in. Over time, even the most well-crafted pieces will develop signs of a life well lived. A little care and regular maintenance will help preserve their beauty for years to come.
Caring for Your 14k Gold Jewelry
Solid 14k gold is designed for everyday wear and can be enjoyed for generations with proper care.
To keep your jewelry looking its best:
- Remove jewelry before swimming, exercising, gardening, or using household cleaners.
- Apply lotions, perfumes, and beauty products before putting on your jewelry.
- Store pieces separately when possible to help prevent scratching.
- Clean periodically using warm water, mild dish soap, and a soft toothbrush. Rinse thoroughly and pat dry with a soft cloth.
Natural Gemstones
Natural gemstones are unique and should be treated with care.
While many gemstones are durable enough for everyday wear, they can still be damaged by hard impacts, harsh chemicals, or sudden temperature changes. Variations in color, inclusions, and natural characteristics are part of what make each stone one of a kind.
Flat Back Earrings
Flat back earrings are designed for comfortable everyday wear, including sleeping and daily activities.
Periodically check that the pin remains securely seated in the backing, especially after changing clothes, brushing hair, or sleeping. If your earring ever feels loose, the pin can be gently adjusted for a tighter fit.
To clean, use warm water, mild soap, and a soft brush to remove buildup around the post and setting.
Hand-Knotted Silk Jewelry
Silk is a natural fiber and should be treated with extra care.
Avoid wearing silk-knotted jewelry while showering, swimming, exercising, or sleeping. Water, oils, perfumes, and lotions can weaken silk over time and shorten its lifespan.
Store silk pieces flat whenever possible and avoid excessive pulling or tension on the strand.
Ultrasonic Cleaners
Ultrasonic cleaners can safely clean some jewelry, but they are not suitable for all gemstones or materials.
Avoid ultrasonic cleaning for:
- Silk jewelry
- Pearls
- Opals
- Turquoise
- Emeralds
- Heavily included gemstones
- Antique or delicate stones
- Jewelry containing glued components
When in doubt, warm water, mild soap, and a soft brush are often the safest and most effective cleaning method.
Repairs & Maintenance
Jewelry is not static—it moves with us through everyday life. Prongs wear, rings may need resizing, and settings occasionally require attention.
